From A to B

It’s that time of year again isn’t it? Art shows everywhere. Well… around here anyway.

Boxbird‘s festival show this year is based on travel, and I’ve just managed to squeeze this one in before fatherhood takes hold of my life and ruins all my paintbrushes.

Lost

This is my first watercolour piece since I left college over 10 years ago. The black line is indian ink, but the background is complete watercolour wash, full of happy little accidents.

The show is running throughout May, with the private view on Thursday, May 6th at 6.30. Email Alice to get yourself on the guest list. Details here.

Oh yeah, and sorry about the lack of work on the site. I’m kinda rebuilding it all and having a portfolio spring clean. It’ll be back before you know it.

Life in 2050

I’ve been asked to take part in “Life in 2050″, an exhibition curated by Transmission for the Sci-Fi-London Film Festival. Of course I said yes! I developed this sketch into an A2 size 4 colour silkscreen for the occasion, and here’s the result…

Alive in 2050

The show opens this Thursday, 22nd April and is running until 4th May. The private view will be held on the evening of the 22nd April. Email Transmission if you’d like to attend, and I’ll see you there. Check out the exhibition website for more details and for a speak peek at all the work on display.

Show Below 3

It doesn’t feel like a year has passed, but our third show is only a couple of weeks away.

Show Below 3 will be taking place, as usual, in the Brighton Media Centre basement gallery at 15-17 Middle Street, Brighton. We are only opening for the first weekend in May this year, so make sure you don’t let it pass you by. There’s a great new selection of original artwork, silkscreens, photography, T-shirts and more to see (and buy!). It’s a bank holiday weekend too, so what better excuse is there to spend a couple of days by the sea.

It’s good for you, and there’s a pub next door.

To request an invitation to the private view, email info@showbelow.co.uk

Hope to see you all there.

Barbarella for Cinemascope

Barbarella silkscreens (in progress)

I’ve been busy pulling my squeegee recently in preparation for Boxbird‘s “Cinemascope” exhibition in May. I’m working on two silkscreen prints based on the 1968 Barbarella movie. If all goes well, they should look something like this…

Barbarella PsychadellaQueen of the galaxy (working title)

The show opens at Boxbird in Hove from May 8th 2009 and is definitely  worth checking out. I’ve already seen some great stuff for Shogun Assassin, Dawn of the Dead and Watership Down. Amazingly, I don’t think any two artists have chosen the same film.

I’m really looking forward to this one. See you there.
